Hi, my name is Gindy Farmer. 

 

I was looking at one of my watercolors one day when a story began to emerge—a story worth telling. My artwork (below) inspired a middle-grade fantasy about brezas (zebras with colored stripes) who live on the fictitious island of Carifa. The young brezas are born pure white and get their stripes according to the choices they make. 

 

The tale explores how lives intersect on Carifa and the ripples those connections create. The Castle on Carifa (a working title) is a heartfelt tale of compassion and self-discovery in which young Kemmi learns that every soul must walk its own path—and that true wisdom lies in honoring others’ journeys, even when they differ from our own. 

 

I’m seeking an agent who envisions the series potential for more breza adventures on Carifa—and would like to come along as the brezas' world expands with adventure and intrigue. Books 2-4 are outlined and underway.

 

As a watercolor artist, I created the illustrations for the story, but I’m open to a publisher’s choice to use an alternate illustrator or leave them out altogether.
